In India, more than 1000 movies hit the theatres every year. With over 280 million mobile internet users in the country, 1 in 10 mobile search queries is related to Indian cinema and Bollywood.  We wanted to make the Google Search App the go-to platform for all things Bollywood.
Bollywood is synonymous with Mumbai, the heart of the Indian film industry. Google took cues from the everyday cultural facets of this film-crazed city. Nothing evokes the charm of Indian cinema better than its film posters. We collaborated with Delhi-based painter Kafeel Ansari who brought the posters to life by painstakingly illustrating villains and heroes by hand. These posters were then digitised as various web collateral.

Search meets Taxi Fabric

Mumbai , the film capital of India, is also home to the iconic ‘Kaali Peeli’ taxis ( yellow& black cabs). Google collaborated with Taxi Fabric to stitch Bollywood posters into the interiors of the taxis. The posters were marked with Bollywood queries like famous dialogues, film titles and trivia. With ‘Ok Google’ voice search, the passengers could find all the information about Bollywood directly from their mobile. Through a simultaneous digital and on-ground activation, the taxis integrated both mobile and outdoor media and generated real-time conversations.
